Day Nine

On day nine we went to Serena hotel Islamabad to participate in an exhibition arranged by Internews Pakistan in collaboration with Nato-Geo and USAID. The photos of the students from different areas of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan were put on display during the exhibition.

The photos covered different aspects of life in KPK and FATA. Some students have focused on the economic condition of people while others had focused on social and cultural side.

The students took these pictures with after getting trained by renowned photojournalists from National Geographic. They were also provided by Internews with latest professional cameras.

At the end of the exhibition certificated were provided to those students who had participated in the photo training workshop and whose images were on display in the exhibition.

Officials from Inter News Pakistan, USAID participated in the event. The trainers who could not make it to the event addressed the participants through internet and wished the aspirant photo journalists best of luck in their lives. It was a nice event. There was so much to learn abouttt

Day Eight

The day started with the feedback of the previous day. The day was really entertaining and interesting for us as we felt like having command over press word. Then we went learnt how to develop media library for our use in the Word Press. Then we went on discussing issues arising from the previous days work. Some issues had arrived while the usage of Xampp. The trainers solved all our problems.

Then we went on installing many plugins. We installed plugin for facebook. It helped us display our facebook page on our website. The trainer first showed us how to install this plugin and then we all did it practically on our own.

After that we installed plugins for photogallery. The plugin would help us create an image gallery on our website. We first installed this plugin and then created a gallery page on our website and then shared pictures on it. We learnt how to resize and resample picture for phot gallery. We also discussed different features of pictures like Thumbnails, feature pictures and display images.

We also installed audion plugins. We learnt how to activate it.

We also activated the category plugin.

We also installed some widgets for the use of our website.  These plugins and websites helped us improve the layout and contents of our website a lot.

Day Seven
Fifth day of our training started with our meeting with the Michael the Journalism Advisor of Internews at Pakistan.
We had a very productive and useful discussion with him regarding our training and the course designs of online journalism at our universities. He promised as full cooperation and support on behalf of Internews Pakistan. Michael said Internews planned to establish digital media laboratories at our departments once the TOTs are done. The package to be given to the department for the development of the laboratoriusees would include laptops, video recorders, audio recorders etc.
Once Michael left we started our routine work. We started with some html tags and then learnt some functions of adobe audition. Later on we started using Adobe Dream Weaver and learnt how to develop a webpage using dream weaver. It was a nice learning experience as we learnt to insert banners, images, texts and table in to a webpage and design a webpage properly

Day Four
On the fourth day of the training we discusses our blogs developed on the third day of the workshop and shared links of those blogs.
Then our trainers tought us how to use two different photoediting softwares Adobe Photoshop and Irfan Viewer.
We learnt how to manipulate picture are per our requirements for our websites.
We learnt how to play with different layers in the adobe photoshops. We developed banners. We developed different tags. Then we learnt how use different colors and how improve qualities of pictures.
We also decreased sizes of pictures on those websites. We discussed how to used the aspect ration property . How to increase or decrease sizes of pictures without affecting qualities of those images.
We also learnt how to run a slide show and change formats of different pictures.
It was a great learning experience at the end of the day. These two softwares will not only help us develop our website properly but will also help us improve the quality of our newspaper "The Campus Observer," which is a monthly newspaper.
